Waterlily Artwork
Katharine Stewart had a deep love of waterlilies and was known to paint them often. Sadly, the location of her original paintings is now unknown.
To honour her and celebrate the artwork that has been lost, we invited local community groups to create their own waterlily crafts and pictures to become the backdrop for our 25/5 event.
Today, their beautiful contributions can be seen throughout the arts centre, bringing Katharine’s favourite subject back to life in a shared and meaningful way.
Thank you to all the groups and individuals who helped bring this vision to life!

Foundation Stage at Wilberfoss School

The children in Foundation Stage (aged 3-5) at Wilberfoss Primary School made tissue paper waterlilies. We looked at pictures of the water lilies at Burnby Hall Gardens and some famous pictures of water lilies. We loved Monet's water lily colours and chose pale pink tissue for our flowers. We carefully scrunched the tissue to stick to our flowers and chose different colours for the leaves and water. We had a lovely time making our waterlilies and can't wait to see them on display.
